reCLAIM/reFORM  A collaboration of work between Carolyn Autenrieth and Colleen Monette at FOGUE STUDIOS in Georgetown. Aug 12-Sept 30. Click the tab below to learn more about this location.
"Worn wood, patined metals and distressed surfaces indicate passage of time, of use, and discard. This body of work addresses a reclaiming of familiar objects and tools, discarded or handed down, and reforms them as objects of art. Both artists value the natural aesthetics found in old objects; textures, worn surfaces and colors achieved through time and exposure to the elements. Such forms cannot be rushed but are most visible and beautiful nearing the end of their perceived use. In this exhibition, the artists revisit some familiar forms and reclaim them through a process of adding porcelain, paper and other materials in ways which celebrate the original object but transcend its function to an object of art."

Bidden/Unbidden showcases works of visual art by Carolyn Autenrieth, Rosalie Frankel, and Stephanie Hargrave, and poetry by Arlene Naganawa. In each work, ghosts appear, often surprising the artist. In Autenrieth’s ceramics, form and color create “a tolerable beauty” in response to deeply felt sorrow and loss.
